Summary: China works hard to develop relations with Africa for acquiring energy and resources, Liu Weimin, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
At a regular news briefing on the day, Liu says that strengthening friendly cooperation with Africa is an important cornerstone of China's foreign policy.
Over the years, on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and common development, China has been developing economic and trade cooperation with African countries, which has given a strong boost to Africa's economic and social development, and delivered tangible benefits to the African people, having won recognition from African countries.
Responding to the accusation that China works hard to develop relations with Africa for acquiring energy and resources, Liu Weimin, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, says in Beijing on January 20th that China-Africa cooperation in energy and resources is not the entirety of China-Africa cooperation, neither it is the goal of China's Africa policy.
China maintains good cooperation with African countries in political, economic, cultural fields and on international affairs.
Liu stresses that China develops energy and resource cooperation with African countries on the basis of mutual benefit by following international practice and market rules.
While meeting its legitimate demand for energy and resources, China is committed to delivering benefits to the local people, helping relevant countries to strengthen their capability of independent development, and the relevant countries and regions achieve common development. China hopes that the outside world would comment on China-Africa cooperation in energy and resources in a fair and objective manner.
