Dambina Bawa, Niger's ambassador to China, says in Beijing recently that the Chinese leader's presence at the African Union (AU) summit and the deepening of China-Africa cooperation will make positive contribution to the continent's enduring peace and development.

Ambassador Bawasays that the biggest problem AU faces today is how to promote African continent's development. Though Africa boasts abundant resources, how to develop and make use of them has been a problem troubling African countries.

Over the years, the Chinese government has offered selfless assistances to Niger and other African countries and China's economic development and technological progress offers important reference to African countries for development. He hopes that China and Africa will continue to strengthen cooperation in all fields, so as to promote the latter's economic development.

AU is a cross-continent political entity playing integrated political, economic and military roles headquartered in Addis Ababa, with 53 member states now.

The AU summit, as the organization's highest decision making body, works to formulate AU's common policy, promote Africa's political and economic integration, and address issues of war, conflict, terrorism, and emergencies in Africa.

At AU invitation, Mr. Jia Qinglin, China's CPPCC National Committee chairman, will travel to Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, from January 27th to 29th to attend the opening ceremony of the 18th AU summit.
