Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Karti will visit China from Sunday to Tuesday at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Friday at a regular press briefing.
Hong said Yang will exchange in-depth views with Karti on bilateral relations, as well as international and regional issues of common concern.
"China and Sudan have enjoyed a long-standing relationship and fruitful cooperation in all fields, bringing concrete benefits to their respective peoples. It is the common will of the two peoples to strengthen cooperative ties between the two countries," Hong said.
"China believes Karti's visit will help increase understanding and deepen friendship between the two countries and promote cooperation in all fields," Hong said.
When asked whether oil disputes between Sudan and South Sudan will be discussed during Karti's visit, Hong said China has made proactive efforts to persuade both sides to respect each other's concerns.
"Oil is the economic lifeline shared by Sudan and South Sudan," Hong said, adding that negotiation remains the best way to solve the dispute.
Hong said China has been working with the international community, particularly the African Union, to help both sides find a satisfactory solution.
"The Chinese side will continue to make joint efforts with the international community to realize a peaceful coexistance between Sudan and South Sudan," he said.
