In a joint partnership with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, a fellow member of the Skyteam, the new Freighter Service would have a dedicated plane, the recently acquired Boeing 747-400F cargo freighter.

Kenya Airways Zambia corporate communications manager Chris Karanja said in  a statement that Cargo Freighter was expected to boost the airline’s  capacity to airlift cargo between its growing Asian and African markets including Zambia, while realising higher earnings from cargo.

” The cargo freighter has a capacity to carry 120 tonnes which is more than five times the belly capacity of the Boeing 777, the largest aircraft in the airline’s fleet. This will improve the airline’s overall cargo carrying capability and reduce overdependence on the passenger fleet whose belly capacity is limited,” he said.

Kenya Airways is one of Africa’s leading airlines and flies into Zambia three times daily, with two  direct flight into Lusaka via the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport and another one to Ndola’s Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport.
