Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Qandil inaugurated Wednesday the High-Level Policy Dialogue Forum on Youth Employment, for fighting the unemployment problems in Egypt.
Hosted by the African Development Bank (ADB), the forum was attended by representatives of the bank, the Social Development Fund, the Egyptian government and the private sectors.
The forum discussed the unemployment problems among youth in Egypt in specific and in Africa in general. It also touched upon the cooperation plan between the ADB and the Egyptian government in this regard.
Qandil said the cabinet has a plan which will save about 750, 000 job opportunities, adding that he heads a ministerial committee including different relevant ministers, aiming at supporting the small projects in different sectors, especially in the poor areas.
"The committee is technically supported and coordinated by the Social Development Fund," Qandil said.
Qandil also said the Egyptian cabinet will cooperate with the ADB to execute a development plan costing 2.5 billion U.S. dollars to finance important projects like the Sharm el-Sheikh Airport, projects in the electricity sector, a power plant in Aswan, and other irrigation and sanitation projects.
